Jungbub-1041. Dignity or Arrogance (1/2)

Q. There is an old saying that goes, “A person you unconditionally hate no matter how much you get help from, and a person you unconditionally favor no matter how much you give out to”. I also have a tendency to believe in the validity of this proverb. I am wondering if this is because I am insufficient or because this is an aspect of my study.

A. You hate the counterpart even when that person comes to help. This statement is only valid when your stomach is already full.

For a human being, there cannot be a fixed answer.

A human being is a being that counts upon the relativity. For a person, there cannot be a fixed answer. Even though a fixed answer can exist for an animal, an answer that is anchored cannot exist for a human being. It always depends on the situation. You are different when you are under pressure versus when you are laid back. What about your state of before and after you enter a toilet. How about when you are in lack of money in contrast to when you are in excess of money. In the same context, when you are in a low place versus when you are in a high place. It’s all relative.

It is not so simple for a human being.

You are judging those people without acknowledging the fundamental law of the Grand Nature. Do you think you will constantly maintain to be the same person while having $100 versus having $3 million? There is a significant amount of difference in the frame of mind. That difference itself is the basis of a human being. That susceptibility to change is the basis.

The state of a dog or a pig only changes depending on the amount of food in front. A human being takes into account all types of matter and situations. An animal’s state relies on whether it has a lot of food or is in need of food. It even considers its own offspring as food when it is starving. But when the stomach is full, it will not budge no matter how much meat is provided.

However, for the case of a human being, he will save the excess meat for a later time by refrigerating it. He will further go out his way to dry age the meat to conserve it for even longer. An animal has its limit. Its only method of saving meat would be to put it up on a tree branch where there is a shade. It is not so simple for a human being.

So the Grand Nature has allowed room for an arduous effort of evolution, to ultimately create the temporal body of a human being, this body of which we take form as human beings. We use this body as a means to live life. Although the human body and the animal body are made up of the same matter, a human operating system differs from that of an animal.

You always end up suffering whenever you swear by your judgment. You should never be fixed onto a single position and assume you will never change.

Therefore, do not consider that an uncompromising answer always applies to that person. An answer should always be relative. It always changes based on an event or an environment. So do not ever believe when a person swears by a statement/decision. How does one end up vouching for an answer? It is only valid when you and your counterpart’s situation cross and align in a specific way. Once your assertion fades out as its condition changes, it has exceeded your responsibility. You always end up suffering whenever you swear by your judgment. You should never be fixed onto a single position and assume you will never change. Otherwise, you will have to withstand that corresponding amount of pain.

An answer today is an answer applicable only for today.

An answer today is an answer applicable only for today. Tomorrow’s answer has to change relative to tomorrow’s situation, and you should seek out for an agreement with your counterpart depending on its specific time and situation. For example, you say that this person has changed a lot. Of course, he/she has changed, how can you not? You say that this someone is not like before anymore. This person is not like before because the situation has changed and the adjustment to a new environment is inevitable for human beings.

A situation readjusts a human being.

You say that back when this person was a bum, he/she was very polite, but now that money has come to fulfill the poverty, that person has turned arrogant and pretentious. Well, he/she is being arrogant and pretentious because money is present now. That is why the person is not like before. But you are only referring back to when he/she was poor. That person will definitely turn polite once the money goes away. A situation readjusts a human being.

The Grand Nature brings the person to a situation where he/she can learn the lesson.

So if you are being an arrogant person, a new situation will definitely come to make you humble again. The Grand Nature will drag you down so that you learn the lesson of being humble. It will not stop until you learn.

The importance of being humble: You are going through hardship in life because the Grand Nature wants to draw your attention to the importance of being humble.

If you study in a correct way, you will be able to realize the importance of modesty. You are going through hardship in life because the Grand Nature wants to draw your attention to the importance of being humble. If you turn arrogant once you earn what you desire, then it will be a big problem. So the Grand Nature operates to put you back in a place where you should accentuate on being humble again.

Now start swallowing your pride. Why would you be needing to keep your head up? Why? That is not how you show your pride in self. It is nothing like making yourself look worthier and wealthier than others. Someone who holds dignity never tolerates that kind of pride. You are simply being self-conceited.

Holding dignity of what we are is a true way of showing pride in us.

The true self-respect arises when you firmly hold on to the conscience as a human being. You cannot degrade yourself down to an animal by following the state of an animal. How can a person of dignity mimic the mere action of an animal? Holding dignity of what we are is a true way of showing pride in us.

Dignity is when you firmly hold onto the conscience. When you persist in holding that dignity, there will be nothing you cannot achieve.

The way you keep your head up out of empty pride is called arrogance. Arrogance will come back to bite you and deteriorate yourself. Dignity will broaden your mind while arrogance will break you down into pieces. Dignity is when you firmly hold onto the conscience. When you persist in holding that dignity, you will make achievements for sure. As long as your spirit is upheld firmly with dignity, there will be nothing you cannot achieve. However, with arrogance, nothing can be achieved. Dignity and arrogance should not be mixed up. Arrogance will ultimately be torn down. Okay?
