Jungbub-6190. Car Sales – The urge to make more money (1/3)

Q. Thank you, Seuseungnim (the Great Mentor). Though there have been many similar questions, having all these sales people gathered around I would like to ask you this question. Seuseungnim (the Great Mentor) told us not to try to make money whether you are an entrepreneur or a salesperson. In reality, it’s not easy to practice it many times in the everyday business. I’d appreciate if you could remind us and advise on how to keep it straight in our mind.

A. You wouldn’t be out in society if you were not going to make money, right? You came out to make profits. You want to build wealthy in your life, and that’s why you are out there.

Money is not something you should work for. You should try your best to help your client.

While making a sale, I am not telling you not to try to make money. If you work, money comes. That’s right. Money comes to you if you work. Though what motivated you may have been the idea of making more money until you come to society, you are supposed to work and focus on clients while doing business. Right?

What does the client need? He is here for a new vehicle, and he is not here to help you make more money. However, you are only focusing on making profits right now. If so, will it genuinely help the client buy a vehicle? No, it won’t. You should work for the client.

And the reason the person visited the store was for him to purchase a vehicle. Therefore, you should try your best to help the client purchase a vehicle that fits his needs. Even though he is here to buy a vehicle, if you find anything else you can help him with, the car sales increase effortlessly. With the increased sales, money comes. Money is not something you should work for.

You have to understand the nature of the business that the client is not here all the way to increase your sales but to get what he wants.

In the beginning, you start to work to make money but once you have work to do, you should focus on doing the quality work. Money is not something you should work for. Money comes naturally by doing so.

On the other hand, if you keep thinking about making money while working, you are literally doing something for money, not for your client. Hence, people can easily sense that. That’s why you have to understand the nature of the business that the client is not here all the way to increase your sales but to purchase a vehicle.

During his visit, if you try to sell a car for your own benefit, he will try to keep his distance from you. Because of your attitude, he will act more carefully and suspect that you may take an advantage of him. Hence, he will be pickier, and many things can happen against you. You should help him make a good purchase because the client came for a new vehicle.

If you are obsessed with the only thought of making more profits, your sales performance will stay mediocre due to your greed.

This way, you are doing the business to help your client, and it means you no longer have the lower hand when it comes to sales and customer relationships.

That person came because he needed help with purchasing a vehicle. If you are obsessed with the only thought of making more profits, you will fail to do anything beneficial to the client and so your sales performance will stay mediocre due to your greed.

You should focus on building a relationship. With this development in a relationship, car sales are just a bonus.

That person is your client. If so, you should be thinking of what to do for your client. With this approach, you will not just be helping him buy a car but will also get along with him. You and your client will get close to each other. With this development in a relationship, car sales are just a bonus. Also, having a close relationship, you will get to know more about him in various ways. Though you may not sell a car today, whenever he needs one, he will come and purchase one from you.

You should focus on building a relationship. Because of your effort to live for the other and getting close to that person, your car sales will increase. Your sales performance will stay stagnant if you keep trying to sell more without developing a close relationship.

The Grand Nature wants you to come out to society, so you would learn the society and work for the society.

As a consequence, the main reason why the Grand Nature makes you come out to society is not to help you earn more money. With little money and the difficulty of living, it makes you come out to society. If the Grand Nature wants you to come out to society, all it has to do is making you feel difficult to some extent. It’s doing so because you wouldn’t come out otherwise. You wouldn’t work for society; you will neither try to learn nor make any effort. Thus, it’s putting you in a circumstance where you would struggle so that you will make effort.

You should learn all these basic principles before you start your first step into society. But we just hurry out only to make more money. Keep in mind that no one is willing to lose his money for your only benefit. And that’s not even a high-end sales job, is it? If you are selling imported vehicles in Korea, it is considered high-end sales.

You should always keep developing your skills and learn how to properly treat others.

By making high-end sales, we are learning the society, and it is essential to improve ourselves because we are meeting such important people to achieve something greater in our future.

What would happen if you meet those high-class people without having yourselves prepared? And do you think you can develop sustainable relationships? It’s never going to happen. You should always keep developing your skills and learn how to properly treat others.

The people who can afford to buy imported vehicles are the high class. By interacting frequently with these important people, you can get their energy. If you keep getting the energy from these people, you can grow much bigger. Do you know why it’s such an honor to have a handshake with the president of a country? It’s because you get energy from him. During the meeting with a chairman of a big firm, it is a nerve-wracking moment for you. Despite all the anxiety and butterflies in your stomach, your energy grows after having a meeting with him.

Through meetings with high-class people, you are developing your skills and growing from their energy. It’s worth more than money.

When you are dealing with luxury vehicles, it’s very likely that you are also meeting high-class people. Through meetings with such people, you are developing your skills and growing from their energy. It’s worth more than money.

Moreover, as you behave genuinely towards your clients, though you may care less about car sales, you will be able to sell enough quantity. Instead, you will now have to learn how to behave properly to absorb all the energy coming towards you. Treating others appropriately is a must. If you behave properly towards others and continue having sound relationships with them, your sales will increase without your paying attention to it. If you sell that much, money also comes without your intention to make more money.

If you behave properly towards others and continue having sound relationships with them, your sales will increase without your paying attention to it.

And when I say, “you shouldn’t try to make money,” that doesn’t mean you should sell the vehicles at a low price with little margin. It does not matter how much you set the price for the vehicles. It’s part of your tool. If you please your client, he wouldn’t mind paying you more. If you make your client feel annoyed, he wouldn’t buy even at bargain prices. You can see that.

That’s why you should focus on building relationship with others. If you behave properly towards others and build healthy relationships, the rest will be taken care of. Okay? By doing so, you will grow even more and your bright future is guaranteed. Do you understand? (Yes) If you are in a business dealing with high-end sales, you must keep developing yourself. Okay?
