Fighting hours to save a few seconds

———–

I’m satisfied with our new website even though it’s not quite done yet.

This morning, I worked for hours to reduce the loading time. I worked on the Cache program and CDN (content delivery network). In the middle of the work, our server went down for 30 minutes. Oh my god! During that kind of emergency, my stress level peaks to the maximum. Finally, with the help from Bluehost, I fixed it.

I can follow the standard work for 80% of the job. But for 20%, I always face hidden obstacles. That 20% requires the trials and errors methods. The real experts know how to handle that gray area after all their experiences. I spent hours to figure out that 20%.

Now our site’s loading time is 600 mili-sec at best. That’s incredible speed. The previous site marked 3 sec. If the site open in 0.6 sec, it’s faster than MS Word Document opens in my own hard drive.

My next step is to optimize the search ranking. It requires lots of strategic processes. I can finish it this weekend.
