Transitioning toward justice

———–

I feel that we are transitioning toward justice now. One of the episodes in Korean news made me cry. So sad. Many prominent athletes have been suffering from violence and even sexual abuse by their coaches. Usually, they start the sport at 8 – 9 years old. The sport is their life. When coaches threaten to kick them out, the athletes have no choice but to follow the coaches.

Shim is an Olympic medalist – 2 Gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal -. Her confession about the harassment she has experienced was shocking. It’s not a problem of one individual coach. The Commission hired him as a coach even he had a record of being prosecuted. The Commission has created the environment. But they are hiding while media is focusing on the coach.

Korean people will not forgive. Now I understand how strong our people are. Japan and China have trained Korea for two thousand years. We’re invaded every year throughout history. The more they invaded, the stronger we became. I can tell that Koreans are the strongest people in the world.

What will we do with this strength? We will reestablish justice. A strong and healthy environment where the people who have ill-intension cannot live.
